ok so i dont really know what a blog is about but here is my attempt, my name is naeem mahomed a 20 yr old student from durban S.A (i wonder if this is enough information to allow one of those perverts you read about to track me down, beat me over the head with a club and kidnap me.. but i digress) and i am utterly bored with my life.... i seek stimulation in everthing i do but that feeling palls after the first few times i do anything... so i keep on trying new things. take girls for example, I can be happy with one for a few weeks and wake up one day and have absolutely no affection towards her, or sports, i try rugby, tennis, swimming, paintball etc but no sport seems to hold any excitement for me whatsoever.. what can i do fellow cameway users to get out of this rut im in?

Ribbit... my say in this matter revolves around the friends that you keep and what you do in your past time besides the activities you've mentioned. At this time in your life you should be enjoying everything that comes with varsity life... the friends, the parties, the socials, the women, and most of all.. .chilling and having fun.

What i recommend you do is get a good group of guys and just go wild, reliving old times when you were truly happy. From my perspective something is holding you back... maybe the thought of "I can do this when I'm older"... no fellow man... the time is now. Everything you want to do should be done now, so that yo live with no regrets you know... do somehting out of your comfort zone, just as Redknapp has mentioned... go out an experience different cultures, help people, understand them.. these are valuable lessons for later life, trust me, i know. And if you decide on stuff your family will fully support you...

ok naeem---- at this time of your life you in your tertiary education this should be keeping you busy weekdays and nights. If not, then get further education for a passport to life and this will keep you occupied. Have a break at the shopping malls fri, sat evenings or sunday afternoon getting the movies and restaurants. Get fresh air and meet friends at Durban beach Sunday afternoons after the masses have left or swim at the other safe spots where there is a harmless looking crowd.

Join a gym. Gymming on most days of the week, other than for health reasons, has shown to boost brain power and make new brain cells, fights destructive thought patterns, beats depression, dissolves worries and will get you out of this rut you talk about, gives an attractive body. Watch Liverpool or Man united and have friends to call up after the match. This all is nothing new.

In Durban this is what the average slumo'es do, and are limited to (proudly perhaps) for being born slum.

Sports and girls lose your interest so your curiosity, fascinations and pursuits may be kosher and well meaning and different from the average sports loving, female minded guy. May be you could look into Halqa classes, Arabic classes, contact MYM or Al Anwar or Gift of the Givers for suggestions, bring joy into lives of others less fortunate.

zaidmo's suggestion taking a gap for a year is a good one but unfortunately for anyone thinking of the UK on youth work permit I believe is this is now out.---don't know what he meant by try surfing - the net or the Durban waves?

On a more grand 'what to do' get a sponsor or ask someone to send you to the West Bank and Gaza to help out on your vacations - after this just about anyone will have the time and experience of their life, be a renewed man and prepare you to take on challenges in life. You could find out which member from cameway was there and today he has no time for boredom. Congratulations on your first blog - stimulating me to think what to do in Durban, and hopefully for you is inspiring. Any other thoughts on what to do? what's up in Cape Town, Joburg, Pretoria, PMBurg?
